Description

The Visual Arts Teacher inspires students to explore artistic expression, creativity, and visual communication while fostering an appreciation for the arts. This role integrates the OKA+ Schools model, emphasizing arts integration to enhance student learning across disciplines. The teacher implements district-approved curriculum, assesses student progress, and creates an engaging and inclusive learning environment. Additionally, the position involves collaboration with staff, parents, and the community to support student success.

Essential Functions
Curriculum & Instruction:

Develops and delivers a standards-aligned art curriculum that reflects the goals of the school and district.
Designs lesson plans that integrate the OKA+ framework, emphasizing the connection between the arts and core academic subjects.
Uses a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning, collaborative projects, and multisensory techniques to meet diverse learning needs.

Artistic Skill Development:
Teaches techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, design, mixed media, and digital arts, encouraging creative problem-solving and critical thinking.
Provides instruction that fosters students' ability to evaluate, critique, and appreciate various art forms.
Demonstrates art techniques using a mix of traditional and contemporary media.

Assessment & Differentiation:
Assesses student work through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Adapts teaching methods and materials to support students with varying learning styles, including those with special needs.

Arts Integration & OKA+ Model Implementation:
Applies arts integration strategies to connect visual arts with subjects such as math, science, language arts, and social studies.
Collaborates with teachers across disciplines to enhance student learning through creative expression.
Utilizes multiple intelligences and experiential learning to support student engagement and retention.

Classroom & Behavior Management:
Establishes a structured, student-centered learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and independent thinking.
Reinforces positive behavior and ensures student conduct aligns with school policies.
Maintains art supplies, tools, and classroom materials while instructing students on proper use and care.

Community Engagement & Professional Growth:
Organizes student art exhibitions and public showcases to celebrate student achievements and connect with the community.

Continues professional development by attending workshops, engaging in arts education training, and staying informed about current trends in visual arts and arts integration.
Engages with parents and guardians to support student growth and encourage participation in arts education.

Preferred Qualifications -Oklahoma teaching certification in Visual Arts or a related field.
-Strong understanding of arts integration principles and experience with the OKA+ model preferred.
-Ability to develop collaborative interdisciplinary projects.
-Experience with varied artistic media and instructional technology.
-Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies.
