JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: High School Principal (9th-12th)
Supervisor: Superintendent
Employment Terms: Twelve (12) month Certified Annual Salary Contract
FLSA Qualification: Exempt
Evaluation: Pryor Public Schools Certified Evaluation

General Job Description: Provide instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning, review and implementation; and professional development. Responsible for day-to-day building administration and the safety and welfare of students, staff and activities.

Qualifications: Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate
Secondary Principal Endorsement
Master’s degree
Five years teaching experience
Administration experience preferred
Knowledge of internet software, student information systems, curriculum software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Interacts with students to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level.
2. Manages all building staff personnel.
3. Assigns teachers to classrooms and students to classes.
4. Completes performance appraisal on staff.
5. Resolves staff problems and provides support to teachers.
6. Provides general supervision to students.
7. Supervises extra-curricular activities.
8. Evaluates performance of teachers, program and staff.
9. Provides in-service training to teachers as needed.
10. Prepares the school budget.
11. Maintains relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers and outside agencies.
12. Implements policy and procedure changes from the Board, or the State and Federal level at the building level.
13. Reports appropriately to staff and to community on Public Act 25.
14. Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
15. Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
16. Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise numerous employees in the High School. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and students; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 20 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of finger and hands.

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead above shoulder and horizontally; lift/ move up to 40 pounds.

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking: Adequate to exchange information.
