Description

Hanna Public Schools is taking applications for a Reading Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year.

Hanna is a tiny district in McIntosh county
we are located 20 minutes from Henryetta and Eufaula and 30 minutes from McAlester.

The Reading Specialist will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to support student literacy development. This role includes delivering targeted reading interventions, analyzing assessment data, supporting classroom instruction, and leading literacy initiatives school-wide
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:
• Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and structured literacy approaches
• Expertise in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension instruction
• Ability to design individualized reading intervention plans
• Skilled in differentiating instruction for diverse learners
• Experience supporting struggling readers
• Strong collaboration and coaching skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Cultural responsiveness and commitment to equity in education
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional learning
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
• Proficiency with literacy technology and intervention programs
Required Qualifications Oklahoma Certification as a Reading Specialist
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, or a related field, along with 3+ years of successful classroom teaching experience. A valid state teaching certificate, specialized reading certification/endorsement, and expertise in evidence-based literacy strategies, such as the science of reading.
