Position Title: Classroom Teacher

Primary Function: To teach, motivate, and encourage students to learn and work to their optimum learning capacity.

Qualifications: Educational requirements shall conform to the teacher certification standards of the State of Oklahoma and to other criteria which may be determined by the Board of Education. A master’s degree, though not required, is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Classroom Teacher shall:
Plan and implement a teaching program for the progress of each individual pupil with whom he or she works. Organize and manage all classroom procedures and activities within the framework of the philosophy and curriculum policies of the school system. Promote and require discipline for a good learning atmosphere in his or her classroom or assigned area and for his or her cooperative help in the corridors and on all of the school’s premises. Be well prepared with educational background and knowledge of assigned subject areas and develop written plans and activities for effective teaching.
Assume a leadership role in the school activities which are a part of the total school program.
Assist in the development and maintenance of a good public relations program through all contacts with pupils, parents, and other citizens of the community. Be directly responsible to the principal of the building and his/her designated assistant principal for assignment and direct supervision in the total program of that building. Participate in staff development activities which lead to enhanced instruction effectiveness.
