Head Athletic Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director
Evaluated by: Athletic Director
Classification: Supplemental Part-Time Position
Supervises:Assistant coaches, student-athletes, team support personnel (managers, statisticians) 
Job Summary
Head athletic coaches are charged with instructing student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. They provide student-athletes with the instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Qualifications
Experience in the particular sport being coached is preferred as well as experience working with high school students.
Kansas Professional Teaching license is preferred, but not required
  
Required Knowledge & Abilities
Possesses knowledge of all School Board policies and athletic regulations approved by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA).
Knowledge of the sport being coached.
Ability to connect with and drive student-athletes to success. 
Performance Responsibilities
Environment & equipment support a safe environment for students.
Provides team roster to the athletic office.
Operates within budget guidelines.
Seeks ways to support and finance their individual sports program.
Organizes pre-season meeting for parents, assistant coaches, student-athletes and guests.
Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each student-athlete who is considered a participant.
Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of equipment. 
High value is placed in keeping students involved in athletics and activities.
Promotes the sport within the school.
Maintains good public relations with the news media, social media, booster club, parents and officials.
Practices support program goals and feedback on those goals are a part of the program.
Supervises student-athletes before and after the practices and contests of the assigned sport.
Provides for sequential conditioning, skill, and tactical training.
Monitors student-athletes academic grades.
Students strive to perform at their peak performance at all times.
Works to improve athlete skills.  
Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
Provides for the appropriate development of sportsmanship.
