Description | Nowata Public Schools is seeking a passionate special education paraprofessional to join our leadership team. The paraprofessional will work collaboratively with the principal, teachers, staff, students, and families to promote a positive school culture, provide effective student support services, and ensure the overall success and well-being of our students. Job Summary: Responsibilities: 2.Provide Individualized Support: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide additional instruction, support, and reinforcement of learning concepts. 3.Assist with Student Accommodations: Help implement accommodations and modifications outlined in students' IEPs to ensure they can access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities. 4.Behavioral Support: Assist in managing and addressing behavioral challenges by implementing strategies outlined in behavior plans and providing positive behavior support. 5.Assistive Technology: Support students in using assistive technology devices or software to enhance their learning experience and accessibility. 6.Personal Care Assistance: Provide assistance with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as needed for students with physical disabilities. 7.Communication with Team Members: Maintain open communication with special education teachers, other school staff, and parents/guardians to share information about student progress, concerns, and needs. 8.Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and participation in accordance with school and district policies. 9.Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, including during transitions between activities and while on school premises. |
Required Qualifications | 1. High school diploma or equivalent (Some positions may require additional education or coursework in special education or related fields). 2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 3. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with special needs. Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team. 4. Willingness to learn and implement strategies for supporting diverse learners. 5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. |
