Title: Remediation Specialist

Nowata Public Schools is seeking a passionate Remediation Specialist to join our leadership team. The Remediation Specialist will work collaboratively with the principal, teachers, staff, students, and families to promote a positive school culture, provide effective student support services, and ensure the overall success and well-being of our students.

Job Summary:

The Remediation Specialist is responsible for providing targeted academic support and intervention to students who require additional assistance to meet grade-level standards. Working closely with teachers, administrators, and parents, the Remediation Specialist identifies students in need of remediation, designs and implements intervention plans, and monitors student progress to ensure academic improvement.

Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct assessments to identify students who are performing below grade level or are at risk of academic failure.
Analyze assessment data to determine specific areas of academic need for each student.

2. Individualized Intervention Planning:
Develop individualized intervention plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and other stakeholders to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction.

3. Instruction and Support:
Provide small group or one-on-one instruction to students in need of remediation.
Use evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to target areas of weakness in reading, writing, math, or other subject areas.

4. Progress Monitoring:
Regularly monitor student progress and adjust intervention plans as needed.
Keep detailed records of student performance and intervention outcomes.

5. Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and discuss intervention strategies.
Collaborate with school staff to ensure alignment of remediation efforts with school-wide goals and initiatives.

6. Professional Development:
Stay informed about best practices in remediation and intervention strategies.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to supporting struggling students.

Required Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, or a related field.
2. Valid teaching certification/licensures
3. Experience working with students who require academic intervention or remediation.
4. Knowledge of assessment tools and strategies for identifying student needs.
5. Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional practices and interventions.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
8. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed academically.
