Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and art to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.

Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and school district procedures.

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to Oklahoma Academic Standards and provides individualized and small group instruction that meets the needs of each student.

Translates lesson plans into learning experiences that best utilize the available time for instruction.

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

Evaluates and tracks students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.

Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss each student's progress.

Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and identifying health, behavioral, and learning needs.

Creates and engaging environment for learning through a functional and attractive classroom environment.

Achieves professional growth through professional development provided by the district and self-selected training opportunities.

Selects and requisitions necessary books and instructional aids and maintains required inventory records.

Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing programs.

Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.

Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.

Completes all paperwork and district and state education forms in a timely manner.

Implements student’s individualized educational plans (IEP) by providing modifications and accommodations as written.

Completes other duties as assigned by the administrator.

To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
