Description

The High School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and standards-based instruction in one or more science disciplines, such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Earth Science, to students in grades 9–12. This role involves designing and implementing hands-on labs, demonstrations, and inquiry-based lessons that promote scientific literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The teacher will assess student learning, adapt instruction to meet diverse needs, and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment. Collaboration with colleagues, communication with families, and active participation in school activities and professional development are essential to supporting student achievement and fostering a passion for science.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field from an accredited institution Preferred Qualifications Valid state teaching certification in Secondary Science (grades 9–12) for the specific subject(s) taught
Strong content knowledge in one or more science disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
Familiarity with state science standards and curriculum frameworks
Ability to design and implement laboratory experiments and maintain a safe lab environment
Effective classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning atmosphere
Proficiency with educational technology and scientific tools to enhance instruction
Ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students with special needs and English language learners
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and colleagues
Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement through professional development and reflective practice
