Position: General Maintenance Worker

Responsible To: Operations Coordinator

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Certification: None Required

Personnel Classification: Support Employee; 12-month contract

Primary Function: Performance of essential upkeep tasks throughout the facility. Responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that Central Tech facilities are clean and functional at all times.

Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damaged walls, etc.
2. Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
3. Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
4. Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, etc.
5. Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, etc.
6. Complete regular maintenance tasks, such a changing light bulbs and ballasts.
7. Report to Operations Coordinator regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those in progress.
8. Ensure all floors and surfaces are kept free from spills and debris.
9. Set up meeting space for conferences/meetings by preparing room with adequate tables and chairs.

Maintenance Worker Dependability Requirements:
1. Regular attendance following a designated work schedule five days per week.
2. Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
3. Must be able to attend and participate in meetings as scheduled.

Maintenance Worker Physical Standards:
1. Ability to work in a physically demanding job that includes heavy lifting (60 pounds), standing, stooping, pushing and pulling.
2. Ability to move large pieces of furniture and equipment.
3. Ability to move freely about campus with all maintenance equipment.

Maintenance Worker Emotional Effort:
Moderate to extreme. Must be mature, responsible and able to follow written and verbal requests from supervisor.

Maintenance Worker Additional Standards:
1. Ability to confer and work cooperatively with co-workers.
2. Must uphold all Central Tech policies and procedures.
3. Be self-motivated and effectively work unsupervised.
4. Help maintain a clean and safe building(s) at all times.

Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED with proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position.
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Experience with drywall and repairs along with floor and wall painting. Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools.
Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings. Solid understanding of a variety of repair techniques.
Preferred Qualifications Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job. An ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge. Manual dexterity and physical stamina are necessary for this work. Description

POSITION: Chemistry/Physics Instructor

RESPONSIBLE TO: Campus Director

CONTRACT: 10-month position

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: To instruct high school students in chemistry and physics. Responsible for effective relevant instruction (theory and practical). Responsible for curriculum development.

EDUCATION: BS Degree; chemistry and physics teaching certification or able to obtain certification within one year.

EXPERIENCE: Teaching experience within the last three years preferred.

SKILLS: Must have good interpersonal relationship skills and utilize good verbal and written communications. Be able to develop or modify curriculum to meet individual program requirements. Must be a good role model.

OTHER: Knowledge of and the ability to use the effective schooling approach to instruction.

DEPENDABILITY: Regular attendance following a designated work schedule. Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS: Ability to lift 30 pounds from floor to a four-foot level. Requires stooping, bending, pulling, pushing and carrying. Must be able to set up lab experiences which complement instruction. Ability to stand for long periods of time and to move about the classroom.

EMOTIONAL EFFORT: Moderate to extreme. Must deal with multiple students working on a variety of projects simultaneously. Must carry out daily and long-term instructional preparations requiring concentrated efforts and overtime work as needed. Must deal with student discipline problems, which may create high stress. Must periodically submit required reports within short time periods. Must be flexible.

PERSONNEL
CLASSIFICATION: Certified Instructional Personnel

Required Qualifications BS Degree; chemistry and physics teaching certification or able to obtain certification within one year. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience within the last three years preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. To provide effective instruction in science.

2. Enrich the curriculum with related resources (guest speakers, audio visuals, demonstrations, teams, etc.)

3. Develop and implement a sequenced curriculum necessary for instruction of high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors in order to emphasize time on task.

4. Attend training and obtain certification for Project Lead the Way.

5. Maintain an organized equipment and tool room with an effective management system.

6. Maintain proper safety in classroom/shop.

7. Develop and utilize an active advisory committee, consisting of at least five members from business and industry.

8. Facilitate recruitment, enrollment, placement and follow-up activities with all students.

9. Sponsor student organization activities and relate leadership instruction to curriculum.

10. Work with immediate supervisor for constant student and program evaluation, improvement and planning.

11. Utilize proper administrative procedures for processing, purchasing, administrative duties, budget information, student attendance and student activities, etc.

12. Serve as a role model for students as demonstrated by dress, work ethics, professionalism, technical knowledge and taking pride in the vocation.

13. Maintain memberships in educational and related professional organizations.

14. Continue professional growth through college credit courses, workshops, and/or other sources of training.

15. Prepare and submit reports and other documents as required by the Board of Education, Central Tech Administration and the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech Education.

16. Attend all faculty/staff meetings, professional training, school meetings, and functions as required.

17. Uphold the policies and procedures of the Central Tech Board of Education.
