Position Overview:
The Elementary Literacy Coach plays a critical role in enhancing literacy instruction and improving student achievement by supporting teachers in implementing effective literacy strategies and curriculum. This position, funded through a five-year grant, involves evaluating and adapting curriculum, attending professional development sessions, analyzing student data, and leading teachers in classroom instruction and intervention strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
Assess and evaluate existing literacy curriculum materials and instructional practices.
Collaborate with teachers and administration to enhance and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.
Ensure alignment of literacy instruction with state standards and best practices.
Attend professional development sessions to stay current on literacy trends, coaching strategies, and instructional best practices.
Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching to share knowledge and improve teaching effectiveness.
Provide individualized and group coaching to support teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy strategies.
Model effective instructional techniques and co-teach lessons as needed.
Analyze student performance data to identify areas of need and guide instructional decisions.
Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement targeted interventions for struggling readers and writers.
Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies based on data and student outcomes.
Work closely with administrators to align literacy goals with the district’s instructional improvement plan.
Foster a collaborative environment among teachers, support staff, and administrators to promote literacy achievement.
Communicate effectively with parents and the school community regarding literacy initiatives and student progress.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid teaching certification with an emphasis on literacy, reading instruction, or elementary education.
Experience teaching at the elementary level, with a strong background in literacy instruction.
Prior experience as a literacy coach, instructional leader, or interventionist preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of educators and stakeholders.
Knowledge of current literacy research and best instructional practices.
Proficiency in data analysis to drive instruction and intervention decisions.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teachers.

Working Conditions & Additional Information:
This is a grant-funded position for a duration of five years. Employment beyond the grant period is contingent upon future funding.
The position requires working in various classrooms and collaborating with teachers throughout the school.
Occasional evening or weekend professional development sessions may be required.
