Summary/objective
The Instructional Support Specialist meets the needs of the school by building positive relationships amongst staff to help implement varying school-wide initiatives by addressing diverse instructor needs and by performing routine duties that include a split between hard deadline tasks and low urgency tasks.

Essential functions
· Partners with instructional staff to identify and address changes impacting student learning and classroom needs.
· Advocates for instructors by helping analyze concerns related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and professional growth.
· Supports and facilitates professional development activities, champions the independent use of instructional technology, and provides hands-on assistance with instructional materials and project tasks.
· Collaboration with multiple departments to manage data, proof documents, and maintain accurate records for instructional support and professional development.

Competencies
Proficiency in Instructional Technologies and Systems: Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of instructional technologies, including digital tools and platforms that enhance teaching and learning. Skilled in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Google Classroom, or Blackboard, and adept at navigating Student Information Systems (SIS) for data tracking, analysis, and reporting.
Understanding of Curriculum and Instruction: Possesses a thorough understanding of local, state, and national curriculum standards. Applies evidence-based instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs and incorporates effective classroom management techniques to foster a productive and inclusive learning environment.
Staff Engagement and Capacity Building: Effectively motivates, supports, and empowers educators and staff through collaborative leadership, clear communication, and professional development initiatives. Builds trust and fosters a culture of continuous improvement by providing constructive feedback, recognizing achievements, and encouraging innovation in instructional practice.

Supervisory responsibilities
None

Work environment
The Instructional Support Specialist typically works in an office environment, but the mission of the school may require work in the business and industry community and other settings. A standard workweek is required but may require evening or weekend hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representation of Great Plains at public events.

Physical demands
The Instructional Support Specialist role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while also being mobile across school campuses and community events. The position involves lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, as well as using office technology for administrative tasks. Strong verbal, auditory, and analytical skills are essential for effective communication and decision-making.

Travel required
Occasional local, regional or national travel for professional development, meetings and other activities as assigned is necessary in this role.

Required Qualifications · Bachelor’s Degree
· Five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in a secondary or vocational environment
Preferred Qualifications · Master’s Degree
· Knowledge of Instructional software, multi media, learning management systems and student accountability systems
· Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies
