| Description | Colcord Public Schools is committed to serving our Native American students appropriately and equitably. The majority of our Native American student population is Cherokee. A significant need identified to serve our Cherokee students is integrating the Cherokee language and culture into our schools. The Elementary Cultural Educator / Resource Specialist effectively implements and executes the Cherokee Language Push-In Program at Colcord Elementary. The push-in program is a social studies supplement that teaches the Cherokee language and culture to small groups of elementary students. The position also serves as a JOM Special Projects Coordinator and will hold the Cherokee Club weekly to prepare students for JOM Special Projects competitions. (Extra Duty Stipend—$3,000) This position is funded through the district’s Title VI- Indian Education & JOM programs. |
| Required Qualifications | EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS (Certified Applicants): A Bachelor's degree is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred. Hold or be willing to obtain a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS (Support Applicants): High School Diploma or GED Tier I certified (or willing to become certified) Tier II certified (or willing to become certified) Paraprofessional or teaching experience is preferred but not required. |
