Description

Indianola Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Special Education Director to lead and oversee all aspects of the district’s special education program. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all students with disabilities receive high-quality services in compliance with state and federal regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who is committed to supporting students, staff, and families while promoting an inclusive and student-centered learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the district’s special education programs (PreK–12)
Ensure compliance with IDEA, state, and federal regulations
Supervise and support special education staff and related service providers
Coordinate IEP development, implementation, and compliance
Provide professional development for staff on special education practices and procedures
Manage special education budgets, reporting, and documentation
Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and outside agencies
Monitor student progress and program effectiveness
Assist with state reporting and audits
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree in Special Education)
Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education certification
Experience in special education instruction and/or leadership
Strong knowledge of special education law, compliance, and best practices
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Special Education Director or coordinator
Experience with IEP systems, compliance monitoring, and state reporting
Background in rural or small school settings
