Description

Clinton Public Schools is seeking a passionate, culturally responsive, and dedicated educator to lead our Native American Studies program at Clinton Public Schools.

The ideal candidate will develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that explores the rich histories, cultures, arts, languages, sovereign governance, and contemporary issues of Indigenous peoples across North America, with a strong foundation in Oklahoma's diverse tribal history.

The successful candidate will foster an inclusive classroom environment, empower Native American students, educate the broader student body, and actively collaborate with tribal leaders and families.

Instruction & Curriculum Development Design & Deliver Curriculum:
Teach courses in Native American History, Culture, and Contemporary Issues at all grade levels.

Comprehensive Scope:
Build units highlighting the history, treaties, sovereignty, and culture of tribal nations, examining both historical contexts and modern developments. Facilitate the study of Cheyenne and Arapaho languages.

Cultivate Critical Thinking:
Guide students in analyzing primary sources, oral histories, historical impacts, and modern tribal governance/economics.

Differentiate Learning:
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse academic and cultural needs of all students in the classroom.

Classroom & Professional Management Classroom Culture:
Maintain a respectful, positive, and safe classroom climate grounded in mutual respect.

Data & Grading:
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades using the district’s electronic system. Professional Growth: Participate in high school staff meetings, professional development, and professional learning communities (PLCs).

Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with Oklahoma Certification or the ability to obtain certification.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Native American students
Certification in Oklahoma History, Cheyenne Language, Arapaho Language
Experience teaching Native American Language, Arts, and Culture
