Description

Job Objectives:  Provide career awareness information and activities to school stakeholders. Act as a liaison between career counselors, Great Plains Technology Center, and the high school. Participate in recruitment and retention efforts of the high school and GPTC. Act as the school’s primary contact for GPTC.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Serve on Career Tech advisory committees as requested.
Promote Career Tech programs by assisting GPTC and the high school as time allows and as directed.
Assist all staff with Career Tech enrollment and recruitment information.
Assist the State Department of Career/Technical Education in promoting programs and ideas beneficial to teachers and students.
Attend annual conferences.
Other special assignments and duties as may be assigned. 

Skills and Abilities Required: 
Hold a valid Oklahoma Counselor’s certificate before job offer is made.

Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Provide career information to school population and parents.
Meet with middle and high school counselors prior to spring enrollment with appropriate subject enrollment guidelines and aid students in course and subject selection.
Provide Career Tech orientation to middle students and parents.
Serve as coordinator of existing Career Tech programs in LPS and act as a liaison with Great Plains Technology Center.
Maintain individual student files with appropriate records and information, and prepare reports as required by the district and the State Department of Career-Tech Education.
Work with teachers of related academic classes to ensure relevance and connection between content and career paths.
Report student data for the Carl Perkins Grant.
Serve as the coordinator for the Apprenticeship, Internship, and Mentorship (AIM) and liaison with the local business.
Collaborate with other counselors to develop individual Career Academic Plans.
Enhance Career Tech curriculum through the writing and implementation of grants for special projects as needed and time allows.
