Description | The RBT is a paraprofessional that works under the close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to assist in the implementation of behavior-analytic services. A BT may undergo the same training as an RBT, however they do not hold a certificate with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. The Registered Behavior Technician or Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students in-district. The RBT or BT will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to implement behavior support plans for students that require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Education: Minimum of high school diploma as well as formal training in theories of Applied Behavioral Analysis, or Behavioral Support Interventions Successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician training course and examination for certification is preferred. A minimum of 2 years previous experience working with students who require behavior support. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. Understand the basic principles of ABA and apply them in classroom settings as directed. Assist in the assessment of student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). Implement Behavior Intervention Plans with fidelity to affect behavior changes Regularly review, and remain well-versed in a multitude of BIPs in order to implement the plans effectively and monitor plans for multiple students, at the same time Provide direct consultation to the BCBA, specific to analysis of data and recommendations for modifications or revisions to BIPs. Model implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans for paraprofessionals and staff that regularly work with those students. When required, provide physical intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors in an ethical manner. Perform and document the district approved restraint and seclusion methods; as well as participate in yearly crisis intervention training provided by the district. Participate as a member of the school crisis team, as needed. Attend IEP meetings or other meetings regarding each student as requested Attend regular department meetings with the BCBA and other RBTs Maintain consistency of Behavioral Intervention Plans by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff Work with multiple students, wide-variety of age ranges, as assigned by the administration, case manager, and/or BCBA, work at multiple sites during the school year Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, use stairs, get up and down from off the floor, all with ease. Job will be physically demanding at times. Assist in the supervision of the students. Maintain safety and welfare of students. Other duties as assigned. Ability to work as a member of a cohesive team Ability to lead/model behavior support strategies for others Ability to take and respond to direction of superiors Ability to follow and practice policies related to proper procedures for restraint and seclusion Remain physically fit in order to maintain capability to physically intervene when students are unsafe, and maintain physical requirements listed under essential duties Must be flexible, creative and problem solving oriented in approach Demonstrate enthusiasm, as well as relatability to work with students of all ages Ability to give attention to detail and strong communication skill
