The Director of Special Services is responsible for the direction and administration of the program of Special Education Services, which encompasses educational programs for children from preschool age through graduation or age twenty-one (21), within the guidelines of School Board policy and State and Federal laws and regulations. The Director of Special Services is directly responsible to the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Minimum requirement will be a master's degree with appropriate state certification to direct the program. A minimum of three years director experience with an administrative certification is required. District level director experience is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Primary:
Ensure compliance with State and Federal law concerning special education students.
Complete reports required by local policy, State and Federal
Conduct and complete local child counts for State and Federal
Complete, implement and monitor Federal and State grants and money
Assist in preparing and executing the Special Services
Provide information and assistance in acquiring special services for students with special
Supervise and monitor contract agreements with other
Supervise and monitor related services contracts with outside sources for related services when appropriate.

Engage in public relation activities to the
Serve as liaison to other community service
Be available for parents who are concerned about their child's educational
Develop and supervise district health program and services, including nursing staff and therapeutic counseling.
Provide in-service as needed to Special Education
Maintain and develop district Medicaid
Other duties as assigned by the
Federal and State Reports/Grants:
Assist with Federal program reports
Assist in the financial accounting for the various federal programs and grants
Assist in preparation of grant applications and budgets
Collect and report data required for program evaluations
Coordinate planning with principals, teachers and administrative staff in implementing federal programs.
Assist with coordinating the district-wide accreditation process
Work Schedule: 233 days 8+hrs/day
