Description

Pauls Valley Public Schools has an opening for assistant principal at Pauls Valley Junior High. Pauls Valley Junior High is grades 7-9 with an enrollment of 340 students. The assistant principal assists the principal with supervising and leading a faculty of approximately 35 certified and non-certified staff members. PVPS is searching for a dynamic leader to help manage the operation and all functions of Pauls Valley Junior High.

Qualifications
- Administrative certification
- Master’s degree and required hours in school administration
- Three to five years teaching as well as leadership and management experience
- Reports to: Principal

Job Goal
Perform administrative duties under minimal supervision to plan, implement, and administer a comprehensive educational program for all students in the school. Provide a positive climate for teachers and staff to enable them to provide the maximum educational benefits to all students.

Essential Job Functions
Will assist the principal in the daily operations of the school as follows:
- Analyzing student test scores and providing data to work toward improvement in academic performance.
- Developing and monitoring the instructional program.
- Preparing for the site accreditation as well as other school reports.
- Recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school’s professional staff; setting high expectations for staff.
- Conducting staff meetings as necessary.
- Supervising students before, during, and after school as needed.
- Monitoring and refining the building discipline plan.
- Orienting newly-assigned staff members and assisting in their development as appropriate.
- Assuming responsibility for the safety and administration of the school site.
- Monitoring safety and conditions of building and grounds. Monitoring bus safety and traffic flow.
- Establishing and maintaining regular communication with parents and the community.
- Maintaining ongoing communication to students, parents, and staff through phone calls, emails, bulletins, announcements, newsletters, meetings, etc.
- Observing teachers in the classroom and evaluating staff as defined by the district.
- Developing a master schedule for the building.
- Establishing duty schedules for the supervision of students during recess, lunch, and before/after school.
- Attending functions and activities of the school and district.
