Position Summary: The high school principal shall be responsible for the organizational operation
of the school within the framework of the existing policies of Prague Public Schools to ensure
that the school is run in an orderly and effective manner. The principal also works closely with
central office administration to design and implement effective operational systems.
An individual in this position is expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and
duties within the district as assigned and/or as necessary.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on Evaluations of Professional Personnel.

Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications/Experience/Job Requirements:
Valid Oklahoma Department of Education Certificate in Secondary Administration
Master’s Degree
Two (2) years of successful administrative experience
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the general principles of leadership, management, instructional and personnel
administration
Knowledge of parental engagement strategies and student assessment systems
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to prepare summaries and reports and identify potential challenges; collect and analyze and
present data; evaluate alternative solutions and prepare sound recommendations based on data
Must have a commitment to, knowledge of, and competencies in the inclusion of all students
Knowledge of technologically appropriate applications of instructional practices and procedures is
required
Must possess collaborative leadership and teambuilding skills among colleagues, teachers, staff,
parents, students and community members
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prime responsibility for the improvement of instruction
Effectively communicate the school’s goals
Serve as the instructional leader of the building staff
Develop organizational procedures
Provide a safe physical and emotional environment for students and staff
Implement innovative instructional programs
Utilize and promote technology at all levels
Demonstrate effective public relations skills
Lead the improvement of student achievement and leadership
Lead the planning and execution of student recruitment related activities, such as open houses and
school wide activities that support positive school culture
Work to support student and teacher retention
Work with counselor and registrar to development and maintain accurate master scheduling and
student schedules, student records, and transcripts in accordance with school, local, state, and
federal requirements
Prepare, write, edit, and publish student/parent and staff handbooks
Coordinate and manage school assemblies and school testing programs with counselor and staff
Anticipates potential problems and issues and is proactive in addressing them
Assesses school’s physical and logistical needs and makes recommendations for meeting them
Ensures that the campus is equipped for start-up/new school year and close out of the year
Coordinates and manages all staff assigned duties, school assemblies and activities
Drive positive family and community relations for the school through quality communications and
interactions
Coordinate safety protocols and drills to match state and local regulations
Ensure compliance with all state, federal and policies related to public school operations and
accreditation
Plans and facilitates professional development to increase staff knowledge about effective
instruction
Regularly observes and evaluates teachers and provides specific feedback about their performance
Promotes and communicates high expectations of students and staff performance in an engaging
supportive
Manner and provides appropriate recognition
Recruits and hires staff efficiently and effectively. Conducts thorough reference communications to
assure candidate selected meet the needs of the school
Provides effective direction to staff on improving performance. Holds staff accountable for effective
instruction
Principal is visible and accessible to students
Principal supports and encourages student leadership
Continue the development of a positive school culture where staff and students are valued
Suspension and discipline guidelines are administered fairly and consistently
Clearly communicated the Student Code of Conduct
Works with parents to resolve issues thoughtfully and quickly.
