Job Description
Summary/Objective
The Assistant Practical Nursing Coordinator/Instructor will be responsible for providing program support for all practical nursing programs at the Great Plains Technology Center. The Assistant Practical Nursing Coordinator/Instructor will be responsible for overseeing the practical nursing clinical organization and clinical site relationship building at the Lawton and Frederick campuses. The position will also provide administrative support to the Practical Nursing Coordinator/Instructor position.

Essential functions
• Build and manage clinical schedules for all PN students
• Schedule students in InPlace for clinical slots at CCMH
• Schedule student for clinical based on class/progress levels
• Set up and maintain clinical contracts for students at hospitals, clinics, nursing home facilities, etc.
• Collaborate with community partners to maintain and obtain new clinical opportunities for students
• Visit clinical sites to monitor student/clinical instructor interaction/process
• Work with clinical sites to ensure students/instructors are up to date and following all clinical policies and procedures
• Set up yearly student orientations/tours/badges/etc. at clinical sites
• Ensure students immunizations, CPR and any other clinical information is kept up to date
• Enter and manage curriculum in the Learning Management System (Schoology)
• Set up and maintain: ATI/InPlace/Nursing Central/Survey Monkey/Schoology yearly accounts and services
• Assist in the purchase of needed supplies for PN department
• Take meeting minutes at all faculty and advisory meetings
• Assist with calendars/classroom schedule
• Maintain student lab areas/supplies/SIM equipment
• Assist in overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on student clinical probations
• Manage student behavior issues as needed
• Manage student clinical hours and progress
• Set up and monitor student preceptorships
• Ensure preceptors credentials and qualifications are up to date prior to preceptor
• Responsible for PN department inventory
• Adjust test grades and give students credit for questions as appropriate
• Provide clear, informative lectures to classes of up to 40 students, utilizing a variety of teaching styles to support all learning types as needed
• Build curriculum for student’s day to day instructions as well as test and question editing as needed to update content on power points, quizzes, and exams
• Perform student demonstrations on skills in skills lab
• Perform student check-offs in lab and clinical setting to ensure proper procedure of skills
• Perform student evaluations in clinical and lab settings
• Provide hands on instruction in hospital setting during clinical hours, assisting with patient care, procedures, medication pass, vital signs, assisting with online charting and all aspects of patient care according to standard instructional rotation.
• Serve as Schoology administrator able to update information in Schoology as needed as well as edit tests, information for students, settings, add new users, change test passwords and settings, opening and closing tests, etc.
• Provide instructional coverage as needed.
• Complete online/in person trainings yearly to increase teaching knowledge
• Monitor online testing in classroom setting
• Calculate and enter student grades into the SONIS grade program

Competencies
Clinical Expertise: Two years of experience as an RN in acute care. Two years’ experience as full-time nursing faculty. Possesses advanced knowledge and experience in acute nursing care, understands the latest protocols, procedures and techniques including patient assessment and treatment.
Educational Leadership: Demonstrates strong leadership skills to guide faculty and students. This includes curriculum development, instructional design, and ensuring the educational standards are met or exceeded. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the program.
Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to various regulations and accreditation standards. Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements for OBN & ACEN
Administrative Skills: Efficient management of administrative tasks such as scheduling, resource allocation, and maintaining records. Must possess strong organization and administrative skills to ensure smooth operations and compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication to interact with students, faculty, healthcare organizations, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Must be adept at fostering collaboration, resolving conflicts, and building partnerships within the healthcare community to enhance the quality of education and clinical experiences for students.

Supervisory responsibilities:
None

Work Environment:
The PN clinical coordinator typically works in an office environment, the mission of the school may require work in other settings. The position will require the supervision of students and staff in the clinical setting. Travel to the clinical site and to the Frederick campus is required as needed for proper oversight. A standard workweek is assigned by administration as required, evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate activities.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the coordinator is frequently required to move or position objects, move throughout the classroom building and/or across campus. Coordinator may need to be able to lift/move patients according to industry standards. The coordinator may respond to emergency situations, student altercations, and communicate with staff, patients, parents, and students. The coordinator is required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal

Travel required
Occasional travel within and outside the Great Plains Technology Center district may be required for sponsorship of student activities, professional development, and participation in other Great Plains Technology Center activities.

Required Education and experience
• Hold a current, unencumbered license as an RN in the state of Oklahoma or other compact state
• Two years of experience as full-time faculty in an accredited nursing program
• Two years of acute care experience as an RN
• Bachelor's degree with nursing focus
• Current CPR Card
