We are seeking an experienced and driven AP English Teacher who is committed to academic rigor, high expectations, and meaningful student engagement. This position requires a deep command of literature, composition, rhetorical analysis, and advanced academic writing. The ideal candidate will challenge students to think critically, write analytically, and read deeply across genres and time periods—preparing them for the demands of college-level coursework and the AP English exam.

This role demands more than textbook instruction. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction in AP English Literature and/or AP English Language that meets College Board curricular requirements and fosters deep academic rigor.

Create a vertically aligned curriculum that strengthens students’ abilities in close reading, literary analysis, rhetorical strategies, and argument writing.

Use the OKA+ Essentials to integrate the arts, encourage student ownership, and support multiple intelligences through creative, multimodal learning experiences.

Design instruction that pushes students to engage with canonical and contemporary texts, exploring diverse perspectives and complex themes.

Assess student learning through enriched and varied methods, including Socratic seminars, performance tasks, portfolios, and timed writing.

Implement data-informed strategies to track student progress and differentiate instruction for learners at different levels of preparedness.

Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to develop cross-curricular, arts-infused units that enhance student engagement and academic depth.

Prepare students for AP assessments through rigorous exam practice, feedback cycles, and skill-focused mini-lessons aligned with College Board rubrics.

Model a growth mindset and high academic expectations while building supportive relationships that foster resilience and self-discipline in students.

Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in Secondary English; AP Certification or training preferred

Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in advanced secondary English or AP-level instruction

Strong foundation in literary theory, composition pedagogy, and rhetorical analysis

Demonstrated experience with arts integration, project-based learning, or interdisciplinary instruction using the OKA+ framework

Proficient in curriculum planning, academic differentiation, and culturally responsive teaching practices

Effective classroom management and ability to maintain a rigorous academic environment
