MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Increase and improve access to culturally competent and developmentally appropriate school and community-based mental health services, particularly for students with symptoms of severe emotional disturbance and serious mental illness

2. Increase awareness and identification of mental health issues among all adults working with young people and promote positive mental health for students, families, school staff, and community

3. Help students develop skills that will promote resilience, self-regulation, and pro-social behaviors; avert the development of mental and behavioral health disorders; and prevent youth violence

4. Develop an infrastructure that will sustain services in the district, build local community capacity for promoting mental health awareness and evidence based practices for schoolbased and school-connected mental health services

5. Willing to work in partnership with Juvenile Probation to serve students who are assigned to the Juvenile Probation Department

6. Provide individual psychotherapy services

7. Provide direct support and training on mental health issues to district staff

8. Provide brief intervention and crisis intervention as needed

9. Conduct initial patient assessments

10. Conduct psychosocial assessments

11. Develop treatment

12. Provide community presentations when needed

13. Participate in case staffing and administrative meetings

14. Work effectively with the school district and other agencies to meet individual student needs

15. Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations

16. Adhere to the district’s safety policies and procedures

17. Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business

18. Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific worksite assigned (classroom or office setting)

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, plan and implement curriculum and educational programs for children, adolescents, or adults with specific disabilities. Assess students’ abilities and develop individualized education plans consistent with treatment goals. Coordinate programs for therapeutic purposes; integrate overall developmental goals into the academic setting. Manage the behavior of students to create a safe physical and emotional classroom environment.

Plan, develop, write, and implement curriculum and educational programs in accordance with educational/treatment goals and students’ abilities.

Facilitate therapeutic groups and may teach academic curriculum in a therapeutic classroom.

Manage student behavior to encourage best possible student educational experience.

Interact with and participate in consultations with specialists as appropriate in order to plan and prepare each child’s individualized educational program in accordance with goals.

May coordinate programs with related disciplines for therapeutic purposes; attend multidisciplinary meeting to facilitate comprehensive program planning.

Prepare appropriate documentation and reports on programs and on student progress.

Coordinate and lead the work of others.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Evaluate each pupil’s performance, knowledge, and skills to course being taught.

Prepare progress reports.

Select and requisition books, instructional aids, equipment tools, materials, supplies and parts as required.

Instruct students in daily living skills for independent maintenance and self-sufficiency.

Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students.

Coordinate placement of students with special-needs into mainstream classes.

Assists with special projects.

All other duties as assigned by the administrator.

EXTRA DUTY: In addition to the 180-day contract, will work additional hours as necessary on Extra Duty Contract.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and laws applicable to education and special education. Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the English language including common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Position Summary: The Curriculum and Data Support Specialist will serve within the Curriculum Department and will work to positively impact student learning and achievement. This will include participation in school improvement efforts, assisting with curriculum development and alignment, common assessment creation (formative and summative), analyzing data, providing professional development, improving curriculum effectiveness by using data to improve instruction and instructional effectiveness, and overseeing all district assessments and the English Language Learners (EL) development program to include, but not limited to: testing (WIDA), supports, professional development, and progress monitoring.

JOB DUTIES

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Develops a dashboard of resources for teachers and site administrators to use to improve student learning
Assists in the development of instructional strategies based on data analysis
Develops effective training materials
Develops scopes and sequences for content areas PK-12
Develops pacing guides for instructional areas PK-12
Aligns current curriculum into the instructional frameworks of the district
Align the instructional rigor level and depth of knowledge with instructional materials
Works with the Instructional Technology Coaches to leverage technology to improve instructional efforts and effectiveness
Tracks data of implementation of ESSER programs and resources to track effectiveness in all areas impacting student learning and achievement
Participates in and/or facilitates curriculum review based on data
Stay informed in instructional methods and educational technology
Collect data, analyze and design and prepare various reports using software related to student demographic operations
Review reports and site date for accuracy and reconcile inconsistencies
Oversee all district assessments
Oversee all EL programming and EL assessments
Create spreadsheets to track important school data
Uses data to help monitor district performance
Supports the district with the Student Information System and uses data to improve processes
Supports the district with maintaining the district website
Uses the district website analytics to identify ways in which the district can maximize communication with all stakeholders
Provide responsible administrative support in such areas as compiling data, analyzing data, and preparing related statistical reports; compile and maintain various record keeping systems including maintaining records of a confidential nature
Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions:

In a typical Work day, employee must be able to sit, stand and walk for 8 hours. Job requires occasional bending/stooping squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling. Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 15 pounds and occasionally moving tables and boxes of written materials or paper.

Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation. Employee must possess manual dexterity and visual ability to read, write, type, operate a computer, and to supervise.
