Position Summary: The Assistant Principal provides instructional leadership to improve student achievement, and under direction of Site Principal is responsible for the organization and operation of the school within the framework of the existing policies of Stillwater Public Schools.
The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to some of the listed qualifications.
Customer Contacts:
Internal: Administration, teachers, students and support staff
External: Parents and community agencies
Performance Responsibilities:
Assumes responsibility in the absence of the principal.
Assists in the enforcement of policies concerning student discipline and attendance.
Keeps the principal apprised of activities, situations, and developments that affect school operation.
Assists in the supervision, observation and evaluation of staff.
Assists with directing and improving curriculum and instruction.
Assists with the organization and implementation of staff development.
Assists in the supervision of the extracurricular program.
Assists with safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of students.
Supervises student activities, assemblies and other activities.
Assists with the maintenance and operations of the school facility.
Assists in organizing student activities.
Assists with the supervision of student orientation, registration, and scheduling.
Assists with the administration and supervision of the total school program in accordance with applicable regulations.
Serves as a member or facilitator of District Student Disciplinary Due Process Hearing panels, as needed.
Assists with the financial operation of the school, as needed.
Demonstrates consistent appropriate fiscal management of funds.
Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
Working Conditions – (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position):
Work is normally performed in a climate controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of a normal office environment. No environmental hazards are encountered in performance of normal job duties.
Physical Demands – (The physical effort generally associated with this position):
Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard and 10-key at moderate skill level. Work may require occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying 50-pound objects. Work involves standing most of the time, but may involve walking or sitting for brief periods of time.
