The Director of Special Services provides leadership to coordinate and supervise the effective delivery of special education services for students in Tecumseh Public Schools. In addition, this person will coordinate and oversee services provided to students within the special education cooperative in which our district participates as the lead education agency. This work with the special education cooperative will require experience with budgeting in this area. The person is responsible for the district’s annual IDEA grant application as well as coordination of district testing and other duties as assigned by the superintendent. To accomplish these tasks, the Director of Special Services must work closely with the community, staff, and administration of Tecumseh Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
Candidate qualifications include: 1. Masters Degree from an accredited college/university. 2. Current Oklahoma State Teaching License with Principal and/or Superintendent certification. 3. Two years or more building and/or district level administrative experience. 4. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and current issues in the provision of a special education program. Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations governing special education programs to include Section 504 and IDEA. 5. Desire to continue career improvement.
