The Executive Director of Athletics and Physical Education develops, implements, and oversees strategic programming in extracurricular sports and health and physical education curriculum that aligns with district initiatives related to increased student engagement, health, culture, and post-secondary opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an education or sports-related field
- Minimum ten (10) years of leadership experience in Secondary Athletics, including supervision of staff
- Minimum five (5) years of service as an Athletic Director
- Current State of Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.
- Proven ability to identify and nurture strategic partnerships
- Proven ability to negotiate and work with high-level executives/organizations
- Demonstrated drive to solve problems in a matrix team environment, and leading with high energy and a positive attitude
- Demonstrated success in development, strategic initiatives, or fundraising role for a nonprofit, foundation, campaign organization, government entity, or similar group, leading to expanded or growing existing partnerships over time
- Experience working as a part of a senior management team and leading organizational strategy
- Strong relationship-building skills and an entrepreneurial approach that leverages further opportunities
- Knowledge of the organization, rules, and regulations of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools
Activities Association (OSSAA).

Job Objectives:
To provide safe and efficient transportation allowing students to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular opportunities offered by the district’s schools.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Applicants or persons employed in this position must be able to perform the following tasks and functions which are fundamental to the purpose of the position.
Develop, maintain, and administer a transportation program that meets all of the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities
Develop and maintain bus routes and an updated bus schedule for all schools in the district through the implementation of the district’s computerized routing system
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate all transportation personnel and make recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion, and termination
Supervise repair and maintenance of all district-owned equipment and development of a plan for preventive maintenance
Works with the assistant superintendent and the executive director of operations in the preparation and administration of the transportation budget
Works with district-level administration (human resources and payroll) to properly implement hiring and payroll procedures
Authorizes purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and district purchasing policy
Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and federal regulations and develops a program of preventive safety
Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on the demographics of the district
Ensure compliance by the district with all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation; complete and submit all reports
Cooperates with school principals and others responsible for planning school trips
Takes an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses
Advises the superintendent, executive director of operations, and assistant superintendent on road hazards for decisions on school closing during inclement weather
