QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Hold a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in the areas of:  Elementary and/or English as a Second Language (have or be able to obtain during first year teaching), Spanish language proficiency preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.  Administer language assessment instruments.
2.  Interact and communicate to provide information to school population and parents.
3.  Work with counselors and administrative staff to meet the needs of the limited English speaker.
4.  Maintain individual student files with appropriate records and information, and prepare reports as required by the district and the State Department of Bilingual Education.
5.  Work with content teachers to improve basic skills proficiency of EL students.
6.  Serve on EL advisory committees as requested.
7.  Exhibit knowledge of second language acquisition techniques and EL teaching methodology.
8.  Demonstrates knowledge of individual differences such as interests, values, culture, or socioeconomic background.
9.  Effectively use technology available to monitor student's growth in English language proficiency.
10.Attend annual conferences with applicable.
11.Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Responsible for coordinating and implementing the career preparation period program for new students, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential functions:

Develop, prepare, and deliver career preparation lessons; use a variety of teaching strategies to meet student learning needs.
Recommend an appropriate training program for each assigned student, using background files, personal interviews, tests, and a variety of other assessment tools.
Conduct pre-arrival contacts with potential enrollees; prepare and mail pre-arrival and safe arrival letters on a timely basis, coordinate arrival activities with other center departments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree
