Position Summary: The School Principal provides instructional leadership to improve student achievement, and is responsible for the organization and operation of the school within the framework of the existing policies of Stillwater Public Schools.
The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to some of the listed qualifications.
Customer Contacts (Internal and External)
Internal: Administration, teachers, students, support staff.
External: Parents, community agencies.
Performance Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains a data-driven focus to support student achievement.
Provides continuous support for improvement of instruction.
Accesses and administers continuous support for a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
Develops and maintains a culture of cooperation and collaboration where teachers, students, parents and community have appropriate input.
Creates and supports a school culture of safety, trust, achievement and success.
Observes, coaches and evaluates the job performance of employees.
Provides opportunities for professional growth and training of all employees.
Makes appropriate recommendations relative to personnel assignment, transfer, retention and dismissal.
Administers and manages assigned fiscal, technical and capital resources.
Performs other administrative duties within the building as provided by directives and policies from the superintendent.
Working conditions:
Typical working conditions are a climate controlled environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is usually moderate as in a normal office environment, and does include sounds of a school hallway, cafeteria/playground environment. No environmental hazards are encountered in the normal performance of duties.
Physical Demands:
Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at a moderate skill level. Work may require occasional pushing, pulling or carrying up to 50 pounds. Work involves frequent standing, walking and sitting.
