Description

Guymon Public School will be having an opening for a Kindergarten teacher for school year 2021-2022.

Guymon Public Schools, total enrollment of approximately 3100 students, has 6 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. We are a very diverse community, having students from approximately 38 different countries throughout the world! Guymon Public Schools will begin a 5 year strategic improvement plan in the Fall of 2020. The plan will increase student achievement, meet the needs of all learners, provide a safe and nurturing environment, establish partnerships and relationships with all parents and community stakeholders. Guymon Public Schools pays $3000 above state base and offers a signing bonus for new employees and a retention bonus for current employees.

The largest and most populous city in the panhandle of Oklahoma, Guymon is at the center of local economies which include livestock and hog farming, manufacturing, as well as oil and natural gas production. To the southwest of Guymon is Oklahoma Panhandle State University, a public college and baccalaureate degree-granting institution.

Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in assigned subject(s)
Current CPI certification
Current CPR and First Aid certification

Job Goal: Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the established policies and procedures of the district.

Employment Terms: 10 month contract

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Evaluation: Annually pursuant to Oklahoma law

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Establish and implement classroom procedures designed to maximize student learning.

2. Prepare detailed weekly lesson plans for each assigned student consistent with the student’s IEP. Timely submit plans to assigned principal.

3. Prepare and present lessons consistent with written lesson plans and best education practices. Comply with all Individualized Education Plans.

4. Maintain a neat and orderly classroom, including the physical arrangement of the room, student records and materials.

5. Handle routine classroom discipline fairly.

6. Prepare and timely submit all required reports and evaluations for each assigned student.

7. Attend and participate in all required meetings and conferences, including professional development and planning meetings.

8. Maintain complete and accurate student records, including attendance, performance and discipline records.

9. Provide professional and regular feedback to students and parents, ensuring compliance with all laws and district policies and procedures.

10. Regularly participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.

11. Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.

12. Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.

13. Perform all other tasks as requested by supervisor
