Heavy Equipment Instructor: Pontotoc Technology Center is accepting applications for a Heavy Equipment Instructor. Responsible for performance-based program of instruction, effective classroom management and placement of students, maintaining professional relationships with peers and professionals in related fields. Must maintain membership in professional organizations and serve as sponsor for the associated student organization. Bachelor’s Degree in Trade and Industrial Education preferred; Heavy Equipment Operator experience with CDL license preferred. Be able to qualify for teaching certificate through the Oklahoma Department of Career Technology and Education. Minimum of five (5) years successful work experience in the Operation of Heavy Equipment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility of behavior.

2. Manage, evaluation and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the district consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the district including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and the emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies, and civil regulations.

3. Defines the teaching and non-teaching professional faculty positions needed to implement the school’s program and recruits highly effective teachers and staff to fill such.

4. Establishes productive working conditions, discipline, training and development of all professional staff.

5. Establishes procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment, approving all recommendations.

6. Serves as the superintendent in regards to all state and federal reporting responsibilities and oversees any accreditations and audits necessary to ensure the school is in compliance.

7. Manages the purchase orders and spending of General Funds and Activity Accounts while presenting the governance board with a yearly budget to stay within the means of such budget.

8. Serves as the liaison between the district and the community, as well as the district and the sponsoring charter sponsor, managing all contract and lease issues.

9. Reports to the Governance Board at their monthly meetings the status of the district and communicates to the Governance Board any issues which might arise.

10. Work with the Faculty Council to formulate methodology that blends the introduction of innovative concepts with proven educational strategies.

11. Stay informed on modern educational trends, through personal study, attending continuing education conferences and by visiting other Charter and Enterprise schools.

12. Approve course offerings and assure that courses are designed with adequate attention to scope and sequence for effective learning.

13. Serve as the school Title I and Special Services coordinator as specified by State and Federal Law.

14. Work with parents and other community members in enhancing school - community relations and in establishing the school as a community resource.

15. Encourage student participation in District, local, state and national academic competition.

16. Give input and assist in coordination of parent volunteer activities.

17. Participate in personal professional growth and staff development activities designed to enhance administrative skills and knowledge.

18. Seek involvement in community affairs and keep current on major issues. Perform other duties relative to curriculum and instruction and the leadership of the school as assigned by the Governance Board.

19. Perform other duties that may subsequently be assigned by the Governance Board.
