Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations.
The transportation director of a public school primarily oversees the bus system that moves students to and from school each day.
The director supervises a fleet of bus drivers, a clerical worker, and mechanic and serves as the liaison for administrators and parents.
When difficulties occur with the transportation system, the director is the person who steps in to find solutions.
Experience
Successful prior experience working as a Director or in a Managerial position, preferably in a school district.
Canute Public Schools is looking for a student-centered leader for the JH/HS that serves approximately 140 students in grades 7-12.
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the High School Principal provides leadership in program development and improvement, in professional staff development, for the instructional program, as well as coordinating the implementation, review, and revision of the curriculum at the building level in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. The principal will manage the operation and all functions of the 7th – 12th-grade secondary school, will supervise school staff regarding instruction, curriculum, student programs and issues, and building operations. Schedules and attends meetings, as appropriate, and leads the site improvement process.
Required Qualifications
Oklahoma Certification in Secondary Administration. Successful experience working with students. Demonstrated ability to lead a school to achieve improved student outcomes. Evidence of great communication skills both in person and digitally. Must be willing to learn student information systems and learning management systems. Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ability to evaluate instructional programming, teacher effectiveness, and interpret data. Strong organizational skills, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
