Job Description
Superintendent
Reports to: Board of Education
Supervises: All district employees
Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate
Valid Oklahoma administrator’s certificate
Master’s degree in education administration or related field
Job Goal: Provide leadership for all education services and programs. Recommend policy and procedure to the board and implement necessary actions.
Employment Terms: 12 month contract
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Evaluation: Annually by board of education, pursuant to board policies

Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach at, below and above shoulder level, repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment; lift/move up to 15 pounds
Occasional Requirements: Walk, reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 25 pounds
Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary administrative officer for the district.
Provide leadership in development and evaluation of short-term and long-term goals for the district including curriculum, physical plant, staffing, and finances.
Provide oversight of preparation and submission of the annual budget and, once approved, administer the school district in compliance with the established budget.
Provide oversight of personnel recruitment, selection, employment, assignment, transfer, retention and discipline as provided by law and board policy.
Represent the board in all matters involving the bargaining unit.
Provide oversight of the preparation of all agendas and their distribution for regular and special meetings of the board, including all required notices after reasonable opportunity for input by board members. Ensure preparation of meeting minutes.
Prepare and submit recommendations to the board for all matters requiring board action, including providing necessary and helpful facts, information and reports as are needed to ensure the board makes informed decisions. Submit clear and detailed explanations to the board of any proposed procedure involving departure from established policy or expenditure of substantial sums.
Promote good communication and maintain a visible presence with all levels of employees to foster a team approach in understanding and achieving the goals and objectives of the district.
Provide direction, oversight and evaluation of matters pertaining to student and employee rights and responsibilities and make appropriate recommendations to the board on such matters.
Review and submit necessary forms to the payroll clerk to ensure prompt and accurate payment to all central office employees.
Attend and participate in meetings and conferences for the benefit of the district.
Regularly participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.
Utilize professional behavior in all school related interactions.
Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
