To provide effective instruction in Cosmetology necessary to prepare students for employment in business and industry.
Utilize Effective Schooling Criteria when developing all lessons.
Preplan all units of instruction identifying information needed, supplies and equipment needed, and a method of instruction.
Develop a sequenced curriculum necessary for the instruction of juniors, seniors, and adults, in order to emphasize time on task.
Identify appropriate methods necessary for involving all students in theory and application.
Develop methods to reinforce all theory assignments with “hands-on” activities.
Develop a departmental filing system for retrieval of all instructional units and materials for the instructor and the student.
Develop a standard routine using Effective Schooling Criteria for opening and closing each class period.
Maintain an organized equipment room with an effective equipment check-out system.
Utilize proper administrative procedures for processing purchasing, administrative duties, budget information, student activities, etc.
Utilize a total scope and sequence of the program, identifying units of instruction in order of instruction.
Control live work to supplement and reinforce the learning process.
Operate a full-service salon, open to the public on a part-time schedule.
Develop an active advisory committee, consisting of at least five members from business and industry.
Promote placement and follow-up activities with all students.
Work with immediate supervisor for constant program improvement and planning.
Attend and participate in all professional meetings as required by the district.
Serve as a role model for students as demonstrated by dress, attitude and technical knowledge
Perform such other tasks and assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the administration.
Eligible for T&I teaching certificate through ODCTE
Must have good interpersonal relationship skills and utilize good verbal and written communication. Be able to develop or modify curriculum to meet individual program requirements. Must be a good role model.
Ability to read, comprehend and evaluate documents, textbooks, and reference materials. Ability to deliver presentations and instructions in a logical and sequential order. The ability to stand for long periods of time and to move around the classroom. Requires stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift 30 pounds of weight to a height of four feet. Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
