TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree
• Principal Certificate from Oklahoma State Department of Education
• Three (3) years of leadership experience resulting in extensive knowledge of School operations, curriculum and instructional leadership.
• Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in appropriate circumstances.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or Executive Director of Secondary Services
SUPERVISES: Assistant Principals, Certified, and Support Staff
JOB GOAL: The YMS Principal will provide leadership and administrative oversight of the middle school in accordance to the philosophy, objectives and policies of the Yukon School District. They will provide educational leadership to both faculty and students while inspire all to collaborate and contribute to the betterment of the school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Functions
1. Leadership for all certified and support personnel assigned to the facility for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the school’s goals.
2. Regularly communicates strategic goals and objectives to promote a cohesive academic and operational environment.
3. Develop, implement and refine procedural functions.
4. Supervise the ongoing operations of staff and students to meet the standards of the district.
5. Ensure the policies/regulations of the district and State are followed.
6. Assist in recruiting, hiring and professional growth for all YMS staff.
School Operations
1. Provide instructional leadership for staff to improve instruction and impact student achievement.
2. Provide regular communication and professional growth opportunities for all staff and faculty.
3. Coordinate, supervise and promote the development and implementation of all school activities.
4. Provide educational leadership through the development of curriculum, course offerings, schedules, 21st century academic resources, and pedagogy.
5. Serves as the financial supervisor overseeing all school business affairs, including all functions of the purchasing process.
6. Direct activities of school personnel and projects.
7. Promote a positive climate for students and staff with effective leadership; adhering to the practice of a safe, honorable, and healthy school.
8. Prepare and submit various reports to district stakeholders to communicate school success and growth.
9. Aide in the development of appropriate policies and processes regarding the school.
10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be required to accomplish the essential job functions as directed by Superintendent or his designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• 238 or 220-day calendar
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
