ASTEC Charter Schools is a growing, 20-year-old public school district, located in Oklahoma City that serves a highly diverse population. ASTEC is excited to be opening a brand new, state-of-the-art PreK-5th grade elementary school in August of 2020!

ASTEC is interviewing for teaching positions for the Fall of 2020. Our current teacher salary scale may be found at the link below. New teachers work a total of 187 working days per year and enjoy all of the holidays, breaks, and weekends that teachers are accustomed to. Returning teachers work a total of 182 days.

Applicants with more years of teaching (PreK-12th) and higher degrees receive a higher pay.

ASTEC pays teachers between $3,000 -$11,000 more than the state minimum salaries.

ASTEC will hire more than 20 teachers, leaders, and administrators and encourage community members to apply. The building is currently under construction and will be equipped with 21st century technology, interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and chromebooks in each classroom.

ASTEC is in search of professionals and interested teachers to join our team to help build a strong culture to match what is in our middle school and high school. Candidate must be professional, dedicated, understand pedagogy, have a good command of technology, be organized and willing to work with a team of faculty, administrators and our exceptional scholars. Applicants with experience teaching elementary aged students, as well as those with a willingness to be a positive member of a team, and one that is committed to helping ASTEC build a culture of continuously striving for excellence.

ASTEC’s Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and first grade teachers teach in self-contained classrooms and will be responsible for teaching reading/writing, math, science and social studies. Second through fifth grade teachers will teach in teams. One teacher per team will be responsible for teaching reading/writing and social studies and the other teacher on the team will be responsible for teaching math and science. We are searching for elective teachers as well.

ASTEC is committed to maintaining small class sizes to allow the teachers to focus on each individual student. Our class sizes will be as follows:

ASTEC values teachers and administrators and have a commitment to their continued growth as professionals through weekly professional development sessions and regular coaching. ASTEC scholars are dismissed at 1:30 pm every Friday to allow teachers and administrators to learn in group and team professional development sessions or Professional Learning Community meetings.

2019-2020 Salary Scale

Must possess at least a bachelor's degree by May 2020;

Be at least highly qualified as defined by state and federal guidelines. (Hold a degree in a related discipline or be willing to get certified within a year in this subject);

Good understanding of technology utilized in today's classrooms (Google Classroom/spreadsheet, Microsoft Office, etc…;

Be able to pass a background check with the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE).

Preferred Requirements:

Currently holds a teacher certification (preferably in OK) in a related field;

Prior experience as a teacher, tutor, or school employee;

A degree or other relative real-world experience in related field.
