Description

Job Objectives:  Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy program of improving students functional fine motor skills and/or visual perceptual skills.

Skills and Abilities Required: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy 
Must hold valid Oklahoma license.               
Basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions, and respond to inquiries.  Includes filling out forms.
Read and interpret routine written or printed materials such as medical records/charts, diagrams, instructional material.
Use specialized equipment with expertise acquired through extensive experience and/or training.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Applicants employed in this position must be able to perform the following tasks and functions which are fundamental to the purpose of the position.
Assist in identification of students through screenings and the initial referral for occupational therapy services
Perform assessment and evaluation; make recommendations for intervention and act as an IEP eligibility team member.
Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services.
Document all services provided and file appropriate Medicaid  claim forms on assigned date to the Special Services Center.
Consult with classroom staff, other service providers, parents, and medical personnel regarding the therapeutic management of students.
Provide written documentation of evaluation, assessment, recommendation, current progress and home programs.
Provide in-service programs for school personnel regarding issues
Included in the realm of occupational therapy (i.e. transfer techniques, body mechanics, etc.)
Provide clinical instruction for students in occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant programs.
Attend workshops and continuing education courses to grow in knowledge and understanding of the disabled child in the public school setting.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and/or post graduation.
