Requirements:
Hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement.

Skills and Abilities Required:
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the MEEGS process as outlined in Oklahoma.
Must have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.
Must be proficient in the use of a computer, data bases, excel, word, etc.
Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
Transportation and the ability to move between schools required.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Plan curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of the student considering state and school requirements and educational levels of development.
Ability to provide accommodations to meet individual student's needs.
Prepares all acquired special education paperwork in a timely manner in order to satisfy state requirements.
Conduct annual IEP meetings.
Reviews and reports student progress in a required time frame.  As well as discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors and administrators.
Ability to co-teach if necessary.
Ability to work well with all related service providers.
Supervise and mentor teacher assistants and personal care assistants who work with students with disabilities.
Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and/or post graduation.
Other teaching duties as specific to specialized area.
Other duties as assigned.

Description

Idabel Public Schools' Board of Education is seeking applicants for Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 2023. Idabel is located in beautiful Southeast Oklahoma and is a school serving 1250 Pre-K-12th grades. We have an excellent 3-year-old program and a very successful Adult Education program. The Superintendent shall be the chief administrative officer for the District. The superintendent works closely with the school board, administrators, teachers, and staff to develop and implement policies, programs, and budgets that support the educational goals of the district and shall perform all the duties and accept all of the responsibilities usually required of a Superintendent as prescribed by the Education Laws of the State of Oklahoma. Required Qualifications A master’s degree in education or educational administration and possess an Oklahoma Superintendent Certificate.
Candidates should have at least five years of experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent, or as a principal with significant experience in administration.
Candidates should have a proven track record of successful leadership, including experience in managing budgets, personnel, and programs. They should be able to provide evidence of their ability to lead a team, collaborate with stakeholders, and make decisions in the best interest of students.
Candidates should be able to articulate their vision for the district, communicate with staff and stakeholders, and represent the district in the community.
Candidates should have a deep understanding of Oklahoma's education system, laws, and regulations. They should be familiar with current trends and best practices in education and demonstrate a commitment to improving student outcomes.
Candidates should possess high ethical standards and demonstrate integrity and honesty in their work.
Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using technology to support student learning and communicate with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications A doctorate in education, educational administration, or a related field is preferred.
