Elementary School Counselor
The counselor promotes student success, provides preventive services, and responds to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive developmental school-counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development of students.
Essential Duties:
Develops and manages a comprehensive school counseling program for elementary students.
Facilitates the infusion of counseling curriculum activities into classroom curricula to support the developmental needs of students.
Communicates with students to promote self-awareness and positive social and academic skills.
Provides individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
Implements a referral process and follow up process. Provides information to staff and parents to assist them in crises related issues that may impact the school climate. Coordinates parent outreach activities.
Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.

• Provide vision and direction for programs under the Student Services umbrella to support the academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being of all students.
• Manage, oversee and develop programs to ensure they meet student needs effectively.
• Implement and monitor federal and state requirements for areas like 504 Compliance, Title IX, and Federal Programs; adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Supervises, monitors, and oversees the district Federal Programs to ensure compliance with federal requirements.
• Lead student hearings and disciplinary proceedings with fairness and transparency.
• Work with counselors, nurses, and wellness coordinators to create a healthy, supportive school environment.
• Supervise, coordinate and support the Parents as Teachers Program; ensure compliance with program guidelines and accreditation standards.
• Supervise and coordinate the district MLL program; support multilingual learners (MLL) through programs and services designed to enhance language development and academic success.
• Promote equity and access to resources such as Bright Futures and wellness initiatives.
• Oversee student growth and success through targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities with the gifted and talented program.
• Assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, using data to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
• Assure that curriculum and instructional practice provide both equity and excellence for all students, including those with disabilities or language barriers.
• Assist in ensuring that all Student Service programs are in compliance with federal and state regulations and with local board policy (IDEA, ADA, Section 504 of the Americans and Disabilities Act)
• Evaluate the effectiveness of student services programs and/or programs and/or projects for the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives within their area of responsibility.
