Job Description

Summary/objective
To lead and enhance instructional programs for secondary and post secondary CTE students by developing curriculum, supervising and supporting faculty and staff, and ensuring high-quality, industry-aligned education that prepares students for career success.

Essential functions

· Oversee and maintain alternative and/or career and technical education (CTE) programs aligned with industry standards and certification requirements.
· Oversee curriculum design, ensuring alignment with state and accreditation standards in conjunction with Instructional Services.
· Implement instructional best practices and emerging educational technologies.
· Evaluate and approve new programs, courses, and training initiatives.
· Hire, train, and evaluate instructors for assigned programs.
· Support professional development opportunities for faculty on instructional strategies, technology integration, and student engagement.
· Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to instructors.
· Ensure compliance with state teacher certification and licensure requirements.
· Monitor student performance, including retention, completion, and job placement rates.
· Work with industry partners to provide internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities.
· Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation policies for both secondary and post-secondary programs.
· Manage reporting and documentation for state and national accreditation bodies.
· Develop and enforce policies related to student assessment, grading, and competency evaluation.
· Work with advisory committees to keep programs relevant and up to date as required.
· Develop partnerships with colleges, universities, and employers to create articulation agreements and career pathways.
· Oversee instructional budgets, including program funding and grant opportunities.
· Allocate resources effectively to support classroom instruction, labs, and technology needs.
· Identify opportunities for grants and workforce development funding.
· Lead the integration of new instructional technologies, including virtual simulations, and hands-on training tools.
· Stay updated on emerging industry trends and technologies to enhance program offerings.
· Ensure that faculty and students have access to modern tools and software relevant to their fields.

Oversees grant opportunities, budget allocation, and policy implementation to maximize resources while maintaining high standards. Ensures adherence to state and federal education regulations while positioning the institution for long-term success.

Work environment
The Director of Instruction typically works in an office environment, but the mission of the school may require work in the business and industry community and other settings. A standard workweek is required but may require evening or weekend hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representation of Great Plains at public events.

Physical demands
The Director of Instruction role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while also being mobile across school campuses and community events. The position involves lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, as well as using office technology for administrative tasks. Strong verbal, auditory, and analytical skills are essential for effective communication and decision-making. The role also demands the ability to handle high-stress situations and respond effectively to emergencies, crisis situations, and student altercations.

Travel required
Frequent local travel and occasional regional or national travel for professional development, meetings and other activities as assigned is necessary in the Director of Instruction role.

Required education and experience
· Valid State of Oklahoma Principal Certification
· Technology Center Administrator’s Credential, or ability to qualify
· Knowledge of school personnel and administrative support practices

Preferred education and experience
· Minimum of 2 years Industry or Educational supervisory experience

Assistant Secondary Principal

To assist the Principal in providing leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of a 6-12 School in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.
To provide leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development.
To serve as Principal in the absence of the Principal.

Essential Functions
-Assists in the development and administration of school programs consistent with school district goals and objectives.

-Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extra-curricular activities.

-Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.

- Prepares class schedules, master schedules, extracurricular activities.

-Assists in ensuring that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.

-Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

-Supervises departments as assigned.

-Assists in the recruitment and selection of employees, the proper maintenance of employee personnel files, the administration of collective bargaining agreements, corrective action, and other human resource issues.

-Involves staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new programs.

-Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

-Ensures that student conduct and attendance conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.

-Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.

-Assists in the budgetary and financial affairs of the school consistent with school district policies.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's and Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration.
Extensive successful teaching experience, preferably at the Middle School/High School level, and preferably in more than one grade level.
Successful experience as an administrator preferred.
