Job Summary:
The High School English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and standards-based instruction in English Language Arts (ELA) for grades 9–12. The teacher will support student growth in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking through a variety of instructional methods. The school encourages arts-integrated teaching practices inspired by the Oklahoma A+ model, promoting creativity and student engagement. Depending on qualifications and school needs, there may also be an opportunity to teach Advanced Placement (AP) English courses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver effective lessons aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for ELA.
Incorporate creative and arts-based strategies that support a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary instruction and student engagement.
Potential to teach AP English courses such as AP Language and Composition or AP Literature and Composition, based on teacher certification and student enrollment.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English learners and students with IEPs.
Use assessment data to guide instruction and provide timely feedback to students.
Maintain classroom management strategies that foster a safe and respectful learning environment.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff to support academic progress.
Participate in school meetings, professional development, and community events.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.
