Pocola Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered School Librarian to lead and manage our school library media centers. The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading, support curriculum and instruction, and teach students to be effective users of ideas and information.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the school library.
Promote literacy and a culture of reading across all grade levels.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support research and reading instruction.
Teach students information literacy, digital citizenship, and research skills.
Curate and maintain a diverse, current, and inclusive collection of books and digital resources.
Provide instructional technology support to staff and students.
Organize book fairs, reading challenges, author visits, and other literacy events.
Ensure library space is welcoming, safe, and conducive to learning.
Manage library budget, circulation systems, and inventory.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with Library Media Specialist certification or ability to obtain.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Library Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
Strong knowledge of children’s and young adult literature.
Proficiency with library/media technology systems and educational platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as a school librarian or classroom teacher.
Knowledge of Destiny (or similar library automation system).
Experience integrating technology into instruction.
Enthusiasm for promoting reading and supporting student research.
