Responsibilities
Instructional Duties
Teach vocal music classes for students in grades 4–12 across Pauls Valley Intermediate, Junior High, and High School.
Develop age-appropriate curriculum, lessons, and performance repertoire aligned with Oklahoma
Academic Standards for Fine Arts.
Promote musical literacy, healthy vocal technique, and performance skills.
Prepare students for concerts, festivals, district contests, and community performances.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Program Leadership
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the district’s 4–12 vocal music program.
Direct multiple choirs/ensembles at various grade levels.
Collaborate with site principals and district leadership to strengthen the program and expand student participation.
Maintain and organize program materials, including sheet music, equipment, and performance uniforms.
Event & Performance Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and conduct seasonal concerts and school performances.
Coordinate student participation in honor choirs, OSSAA events, and other enrichment opportunities.
Communicate performance expectations and schedules with students, parents, and administrators.
Professional Collaboration
Work collaboratively with colleagues across campuses to support fine arts and interdisciplinary initiatives.
Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders.
Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the district’s fine arts programs.
Additional Duties
Manage classroom and rehearsal spaces to ensure a positive, productive learning environment.
Uphold district policies and procedures, including student supervision and safety.

Position Summary
Guthrie Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Elementary Education Teacher to create a flexible, positive learning environment that fosters personal and academic growth. Key Responsibilities
• Instructional Leadership: Teach a comprehensive curriculum including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, and physical education, following the Oklahoma State Department of Education standards.
• Lesson Planning: Develop engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that provide for individualized and small-group instruction to meet the needs of every student.
• Classroom Management: Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional, safe, and respectful learning atmosphere.
• Student Evaluation: Assess academic and social growth, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports for parents and administration.
• Communication: Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain regular contact with families to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
• Collaboration: Cooperate with professional staff to assess and solve student health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Supervision: Monitor students during out-of-classroom activities, including cafeteria duty, playground supervision, and hallway monitoring.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Certification: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education or an approved Alternative Teaching Certification.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written formats.
• Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Physical Requirements: * Adequate manual dexterity for computer use and legible writing.
o Visual acuity to read and transcribe written materials.
o Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
o Ability to sit for prolonged periods when necessary.

OSSM is characterized by rigor that produces elite rankings. Recently, OSSM was ranked the second-best high school in the nation. In addition to the residential school in Oklahoma City, OSSM also provides a half-day program at sites outside the OKC metro. These sites are called regional centers and typically offer calculus and physics courses that students can take while maintaining their home high school affiliation.
